Balneario

The word "balneario" is derived from the Greek word "balneae" which means "bath or bathing room.” In Spain, Balnearios are bathhouses located in spa towns—regions with naturally occurring thermal springs known for their healing properties.

While several nuances exist, we use the pronunciation BAHL – NEH – AH – RYOH.

Balneario candles are made with a natural, vegetable-based soy & coconut wax blend. Our vegan-friendly wax is both FDA-approved and Kosher-certified so you can inhale our luxurious fragrances without breathing in harmful toxic carcinogens.

Yes! We use high-quality fragrance oils, braided cotton wicks and a soy-coconut wax blend for a cleaner, longer burn. Our packaging is recyclable and our chic ocean blue vessels can be repurposed as home decor (here are a few ideas!).

Yes, all Balneario products are vegan and cruelty-free.

Our candles are hand-poured in small batches to ensure quality and performance. Additionally, every order is hand-packaged to ensure safe arrival at your doorstep.

Our master perfumers use both natural ingredients (essential oils) and lab-created (synthetic) to produce our intoxicating, perfume-grade fragrances. Rest assured that our ingredients meet the strict standards set forth by IFRA (the International Fragrance Association) and RIFM (Research Institute for Fragrance Materials) to enhance the overall stability and performance of your candle.  All Balneario fragrances are free of parabens, phthalates, carcinogens, toxins, and other concerning chemicals.

Balneario candles boast a 12% fragrance load to create a scented sanctuary at home.

Our 10.5-ounce candles feature an estimated burn time of 75-80 hours while our 2.5 oz votives provide approximately 18-20 hours of burn. These burn times may vary depending on the conditions of use.

Our signature Balneario candles contain 10.5 oz of premium soy-coconut wax and provide approximately 75-80 hours of burn time. Our Votive Trio Gift Set is a great way to sample fragrances before committing to full size versions. Each votive candle contains 2.5 oz. of wax and provides approximately 18-20 hours burn time.

Yes! We encourage you to explore the World of Balneario with our Discovery Set, which features all five of our intoxicating fragrances. Each 1” scented ceramic coin comes in an individually wrapped gold tin and provides 3-4 weeks of concentrated scent.

Our candle vessels can be repurposed in many ways (visit our blog for design inspiration) or recycled, along with our packaging materials. Our premium packaging is made with recyclable FSC-certified materials.

We encourage you to start with our Discovery Set, which allows you to explore all of our fragrances before ordering a larger size. 

We have a few tips to help extend the life of your Balneario candle! 

• Be sure to trim the wick to ¼” prior to each burn to help keep your flames consistent 
• Wipe away any dust or debris that may have accumulated on the surface of the wax
• Allow the wax to melt to the edge of the glass to help avoid tunneling (tunneling is when a candle burns down the center, leaving wax around the edges)
• Avoid burning candles in drafty areas as high air flow causes “flame flickering” which can lead to smoke and uneven burning
• To ensure an even burn, use a wick dipper to reposition your wick to the center after each burn

Each candle includes care and lighting instructions on the bottom label. Candles add a fragrant enhancement to living and work spaces and are safe to enjoy, but we encourage care and attention to the following guidelines:

• Always burn candles in a well-ventilated room and on a heat-resistant surface
• Do not leave a burning candle unattended
• Avoid drafts, vents, ceiling fans or other moving air pathways to encourage even burning and minimize smoke or a flickering wick
• Never touch a burning candle or move a candle when the wax is liquid
• Never extinguish candles with water
• Make sure a candle is completely extinguished before leaving the room
• Keep candles out of the reach of small children and pets
• Never burn a candle on or near anything that can catch fire

If you notice black smoke coming from your candle, there are three likely causes: 

• The wick needs to be trimmed (often from prolonged use)
• Dust or debris has accumulated on the candle surface
• The candle is in a high draft area (near a fan or open window)
